Master’s Thesis


Surimo Finance Oy is looking to hire a Master’s Thesis candidate for a machine learning project.

The objective is to develop a predictive credit scoring model based on multiple data sources of customer behavior. The thesis work will include comparing different types of regression approaches, including e.g. Gaussian process regression. Confidence estimation and the ability to interpret the learned models will be important, and the work will focus on Bayesian methods. 

From the candidate, we hope:
    -       Ability to analyse and combine data from various sources
    -       Solid statistical base knowledge
    -       Creativity, and genuine interest in financial industry
    -       Good understanding of database structures (SQL), Python and statistical programs like R or SPSS

Surimo Finance Oy collects information related to a borrower's financial stability from multiple sources. The objective is to create an automated credit scoring methodology that can be used also outside of Finland so that the company can cost-efficiently expand its business activities abroad.
 

The thesis is supervised by Professor Samuel Kaski and M.Sc. Eemeli Leppäaho
